Infant/Baby Swimming Lessons

Infant & Baby Swimming Lessons
Aged 6-24 months

Baby swimming lessons are among the most challenging to teach. At this age (Aged 6-24 months), babies lack the vocabulary and language skills necessary to communicate with their swimming coach. Because of this, it is crucial to engage an experienced coach who specializes in this age group to ensure safe and effective lessons.

Why Penguin Swim School's Baby Swimming Lessons
Penguin Swim School’s testimonials and media features in kids’ magazines such as Tickikids and Little Steps Asia have showcased our reputation as a trusted provider of private baby swimming lessons.
Unlike children aged 6-24 months and above, toddlers face distinct challenges such as developing motor skills, language barriers, and a limited grasp of typical coaching cues. These factors demand a more customized and patient approach to effectively support their learning process.
Communicating with babies is an art in itself, and designing age-appropriate skills tailored to their development is an even greater challenge.
At this age, babies typically struggle to understand even simple instructions from the coach. They lack the ability to express themselves clearly and don’t yet have the physical strength to perform complex skill sets.
How we conduct Baby Swimming Lessons
Our baby swimming lessons are designed to gently introduce and prepare your child for learning proper swimming strokes, following the structured Penguin Swim School Roadmap.
By building a strong foundation in these early classes, children will be able to pick up swimming strokes more quickly and efficiently when they transition to kids’ swimming lessons as they grow older.

Baby Swimming Lesson Structure
Research has shown that baby swimming lessons are most effective when the child learns independently from their parents.
Young children often find it challenging to be in the water as it’s not their natural environment. This can lead them to seek comfort from their parents, which can hinder their learning.
At Penguin Swim School, we focus on a gradual approach to help children transition to independent swimming. By carefully assessing each child’s comfort level, we support them through the process of detaching from their parents. Once they gain confidence and independence in the pool, they will be well on their way to becoming competent swimmers!
