Leading the way in Tyre Recycling

Tyres are built to last a very, very long time. In other words, they are not made to break down naturally. This poses a real recycling challenge. Recognising the need to invest in more renewable resources for Australia, Tyre Crumb is leading the way with new recycling technology to provide premium products that minimise environmental damage.

Tyre Crumb Joins Program to Recycle Coles Stikeez

Tyre Crumb and Advanced Resource Recycling, our specialised recycling company, have been working with Save Our Soles, recycling shoes since 2010. Now, we have joined the program to recycle Coles Stikeez products at their end of life, keeping them from becoming landfill.

When we recycle the Stikeez figurines, they will be returned back to use as rubber products, such as gym and anti-fatigue matting, rubber flooring for retail applications, and rubber underlay.

Tyre Steel Bead

Tyre Bead Wire is a high carbon bronze coated steel wire used in all tyres. The main function of bead wire is to hold the tyre on the rim and to resist the action of the inflated pressure, which constantly tries to force it off. The bead is the crucial link through which the vehicle load is transferred from rim to the tyre. It significantly affects the safety, strength, and the durability of tyres.

Nylon tyre cord fabric is used to reinforce the construction of tyres for automobiles, and guarantees their resistance and safety. It keeps tyres in shape and support vehicle weight, which has significant impact on tyre performance. It also prevents separation between cords and belts when the tyre is spinning.

  • Polyester tyre cord fabric
  • Canvas fabric for belts
  • Polyamide yarn and soft cord

Tyre Rubber

The process of tyre recycling is the process of recycling of waste tyre that is no longer suitable for use on vehicles due to wear or irreparable damage.

These tires are a challenging source of waste, due to the large volume produced, the durability of the tires, and the components in the tire that are ecologically problematic.

Because tires are highly durable and non-biodegradable, they can consume valued space in landfills.

In the present scenario of tyre recycling, newer technology, such as pyrolysis and devulcanization has made tires suitable targets for recycling despite their bulk and resilience. Aside from use as fuel, the main end use for tires remains ground rubber.

Retreaded Truck Tyre

When a tyre reached the end of its initial service life, whatever is left of the worn tread surface is removed and a fresh new tread is attached, giving the tyre a new life. Retread is the process that allows the tyre casing to be reused, thus extending the useable life of the tyre.

Retread Process:

  • Step 1: NDT (Non-destructive testing) inspection process
  • Step 2: The buffing process
  • Step 3: The skiving process
  • Step 4: The cementing process
  • Step 5: The filling process
  • Step 6: Application of cushion gum
  • Step 7: Precured tread application process (Building process)
  • Step 8: The enveloping process
  • Step 9: Curing Process
  • Step 10: Final safety inspection
